Back to School

I threw a party for Cleyera on Sunday. It was very stressful, exhausting, and super fun! I was so happy to see Jenny too. And I made delicious enchiladas and rice, and people brought all this great food.

The teaching job is shaping up nicely. I am very excited!! I can't wait to start my lessons.

Classes won't be too hard this semester.

MTNA and Mu Phi are going to keep me really really busy. But it will be great fun, I think.

And I'm going to graduate in one year! Yay!

Evening in the Palace of Reason

I finished reading this book a couple of days ago. It was very interesting. I don't usually read a lot of biographical books, but this one didn't feel like dry history. Evening in the Palace of Reason is the story of Bach and Frederic the Great during the Enlightenment. Read it if you get a chance. Maybe I don't dislike history as much as I thought...

I am very excited about the coming semester. I am possibly going to be starting a teaching job (5 hours a week) under the guidance of a studio teacher here in the area. I am hoping that it turns out to be a very positive experience for me and the students I take on.

An update on my repertoire (feel free to skip this paragraph): Parts of the Chopin Ballade are memorized (toward the end, I started with this section because it is significantly more demanding technically), memory in the Chopin Etude is becoming more solid, the first half of mvt. III in the Beethoven is memorized (that one is really not difficult, so don't be impressed, not that you were), and mvt. II of the Prokofiev is coming, slowly, but it is coming. I think that is pretty good progress for this summer! I hope Dr. Marks thinks so.

My roomate is most likely moving in tomorrow. Yay!
Cleyera will be in Waco in three days. Yay!
Jenny will most likely come down to visit Cleyera. Yay! All will be right with the world very soon.

Now I have to decide what to read next...
